All the methods used to get people to stop smoking DO NOT WORK. The warnings etc are useless. This was the beginning of empty virtue signalling. The only way to get rid of smoking from a society is what is proposed by New Zealand. Start eliminating it by each generation and you will wind up with no smokers as the smokers eventually die out.

Put the labels in the dishwasher, set the temp on high a t least 450, keep the fan in it can get rather smokey. If you have a convection oven use the convection option. If you don't have one then borrow a buddies after the holidays.

No I have never tried these three methods but i hear good things. Let us know how you make out. lololol

Ive spent a lot of time mentoring college-age kids. Virtually none of them use tobacco. Out of maybe 200 kids I've dealt with, one of them smoked cigs. Instead, they vape, like crazy, lending some credence to my belief that nicotine resides in the same space as caffeine in our substance use spectrum.

I smoked my pipe around them, and they all were blown away that it was just tobacco, and that I enjoyed it, and that it didn't much bother them. Their comments were funny, as they had many misconceptions and assumptions surrounding it.

I think the constant warnings, graphic images, and just general shift in perception is most certainly working to curtail tobacco use. Nicotine though, in some form or another is gonna stick around for a while.

Part of me suspects that, even without government anti-smoking lunacy, smoking rates would have dropped as much as they have done anyway (They've been going down in the US since WW2 I think). People just tend to be more health conscious (and young people more boring).

The vaping thing has taken off quite a bit though. As you say, nicotine is one of those lowe level stimulants that seems to be innate to humanity.

Being in my early 30s im probably on the younger spectrum of pipe smokers. Bieng a dad and caring less about fads while rocking a beard definitely helps.

I dont like the vaping scene and dont really enjoy inhaling stuff into my lungs.... honestly pipe smoking now and then & retrohaling seems the healthier alternative vs inhaling random chems and substances into your lungs. I actually enjoy the tastes and smells more than i do the niccotine.

Part of what turned me off to cigs is health and all the random junk they put into them thats unnecessary ie tar etc, i also didnt like the thought of putting all that crud into my lungs. The second biggest negative was the atrocious smell of cigs.

I agree. Cigs have been on the way out since the 60s, really. Humans seek convenience and simplicity, which is why cigs, and now vapes, are the most popular nicotine delivery.

And you would explain the sharp decline in tobacco use is due to, what? Hard to believe all those former smokers and never smokers just succumbed to a universal urge to not use tobacco. I'm betting some of them work some of the time.
Ok I meant to ELIMINATE it from society.

When you get to the point of “I cannot recall” how many times you made this type of “mistake”, it goes beyond “mistake” or “youthful transgressions” into full on Fetish.????4D22DE0C-28A5-411A-B1E1-AB594749D5C0.jpeg

While I agree with your sentiments, warning labels do indeed discourage new smokers. Just look at the precipitous drop in cigarette smokers over the past 40 years. Yes, some of the decline is due to increased taxes, age restrictions, advertising restrictions eyc., but all of those things are slowly being applied to pipe tobacco as well.

Fact is, smoking, in any form, is not a healthy activity. Some of us here will die from it. But it’s my choice whether I engage in it or not, not the government’s.
Now, the question of whether the cost of treating smoking-related illnesses should be borne by the individual or the collective risk pool is another issue entirely.
