I use most of my finger most of the time but I still look. Back in the day a typing teacher said, don’t look at the keys because it will become a habit… damn it… she was right!

I failed my typing class in 1975. Couldn't get the hang of the number row thing at the top. 10 key no problem. I'm in the 70 to 90 range, 100 wpm if I don't care about sprelling.

I took typing class in high school during the late '60's. Not only

is it a skill that I've used throughout life, the class was full of

young women...

I took a typing class in highschool, in the early 80s. Now I use a three-four finger method but I bet I could still use the ten finger method if I tried.

For the latter purpose one can also attend a dancing course (especially for classical dances, other styles often attract less-than-hotties) and even be WANTED. In most cases you pay next to nothing because there is a shortage of male dancers.

I learned to type thanks to text based games (MUDs) back in the day - I went from hunt and peck to ten finger typing in no time flat. The problem with the propensity towards learning typing through internet use is the death of the written language...it's even gotten to the point where people are actually starting to sound like "net-speak" when conversing.
The one that really gets me though is watching my neice text - I swear she hits 100wpm on a Blackberry; it's not human.

I typically do not reply when people text message or email me with 'u' or 'ur' or replacing 'ate' with '8'. The death of the english language deeply saddens me.

I learned in high school as well. It was mandatory to sit in front of a computer and learn typing skills.
Today, I type anywhere from 55-75 wpm, depending on how many distractions I have, lol.

Even worse is having your parents start to talk like that via text. I am truly saddened to see my father, a man who was actually on Jeopardy!, use "u" and "2" as words.
