If you ever have the chance, read Shane's bio book, "A Drink with Shane MacGowan". It's fascinating and occasionally hilarious, with stories like the time his manager got called to his hotel room at Obscene-O-Clock to find that Shane had torn out the walls, stripped naked, painted himself bright blue from head to foot, and was going on in great detail about how the ghosts of the Maori tribesmen had told him to do all this. Also, this was a guy who would drink an entire bottle of whiskey every afternoon. 8O
For my money, the Pogues are still unrivaled. I like a lot of similar bands (The Tossers, Flogging Molly, etc), but none of the others seem to have the sheer range that the Pogues had on albums like "If I should fall from grace with God".
If anyone is looking for something more unusual, I can recommend the Breton Celtic band Tri Yann. People always forget that Brittany was a Celtic country too, and they have their own home-grown bands that turn out some pretty cool tunes, with a slightly different flavor that the usual Irish/Scottish stuff. Here's a YouTube link of a typical Tri Yann tune:

Getting warmer, still no cigar, lets see some fast paced reels or some truely fantasic fiddle/bagpipe music at least that one was in the Celtic language, very few songs are done in one of those languages. So far all the new suggestions are way to slow or too much like metal. At least your responding and trying, can't ask for much more than that, thanks guys

Callanach "Get Jiggy"
Forgive me, this still didn't embed, I'm still trying to get the hang of it and still have not.
Anyway, Eric, maybe this will be a compromise between what everyone else keeps posting and the original intention of your thread. This is a band called Callanach and, besides our good moderator Jason, this maybe one more reason to move to Rochester, NY. Both the singers have great voices (which are not featured on this video).
Trever: That song made me want to raise a pint of Breton cider. Now, if you're talking forgotten Celtic nations, find a band or song in Manx (from the Isle of Man) and that would quite a coup indeed. Thank you for reminding us of Breton music.

@Trevert I never thought I would hear "The Leaving of Liverpool" in French. I just wish I had a better grasp of the language so I could get the lyrics.

I'll try to find a better one but this is a Celtic language song by a local-ish band called Colcannon. One of my former professors usually plays flute for them.
