Cable packages are a joke. Just subsidizing a bunch of junk hardly anyone watches, but you pay for it anyways because you wanted that one channel that wasn't included on the lower tier. I was paying $85 with DirecTV (great service, btw) to have the second highest tier just so I could watch hockey (Colorado Avalanche).
I had to cut the cord to save money, which luckily is ok (aside from losing out on hockey at home) since I can watch the Broncos over the air. Otherwise I get by just fine with Netflix, HBO Go (thanks to my fiance's moms password) and downloading my other shows after they air.

We live quite rural, there is no cable option here and 4G internet comes and goes with the winds, so streaming is too frustrating, tried having only Netflix, just too frustrating. We have Direct TV now and I'm quite pleased with the service and the reception quality. The Genie is my first DVR, and there ain't no goin back, I love pausing and rewinding live TV, that is one technology I have instantly become addicted to!

I got a digital antenna, plus Roku and with Amazon Prime I really don't miss cable. Although it helps to be in a major city TV market (Chicago), I think I get over 45 channels on antenna free.
I do miss TMC though.
