Turn of the century pipe repaired with contemporary parts/tools.

Part 1
I recently acquired a turn of the century WDC retailer repair kit with most of its tools and more than a few of its remaining parts. The really cool part of this kit is the taps. These are not taps you can just go out buy, they don’t make em anymore. The taps are all non standard thread pitch used on bone/screw tenon pipes at the turn of the century, mostly meerschaums. The kit was clearly in use for some time because it was full of old stingers, broken tenons, and other odds n’ ends. There was even a really old red softy. I cleaned the lid with BLO/Turp and then waxed it with finishing paste.

Part 2
Re-stemming a turn of the century WDC with nothing but hand tools & NOS parts. I acquired this tiny old WDC Bulldog with no stem in pretty poor shape. I’d had already been capped and banded once, no doubt be someone with a kit just like this. So I set about putting a “new” celluloid stem on with nothing but hand tools. And the parts supplied in the WDC kit.

WDC’s are safe from me. I’ve currently narrowed my collecting to three marquee brands.
