Hi there after a long time.
I want to describe you be the creating process pipe club PipoTR. But first, my English is not very well now, I'm sorry about that.

I have been created videos on YouTube for Turkish pipers because actually we didn't have a YouTube channel about smoking pipes for the last year. I hadn't any purpose about that but many people interested this channel and follow me.

My channel rose up quicly and opened any make money features. And I thought about that "what can I use these features for". And I decided create a great and big community. I bought a domain (PipotTR.com), I applied for trademark registration and now we are work on it with my near friend.

Actually we have so many smoking piper from Turkey but no one not interested this area. We don't have a forum site, blog or any community tools. Those who do business in this business have only exploited people and have not made any investment.

For example just a company have a permisson for import pipe tobaccos to Turkey but this company not use this right and not import any pipe tobacco here. But I belive If we are getting great and big community maybe we will be success about that.

However, we need to global community support. If anyone see that develops I belive we will be good jobs in Turkey about smokin pipes.

I'm from Canada and the situation here is dire mainly due to the price and availability of quality tobacco. A 50 gram tin of tobacco will cost you over $70CAD, about $50 USD.

We are cannot buy a pipe tobacco legally here. If just our friends or commercal people goes to abroad, they are taking a pipe tobacco and come here and sell between 70-80 USD.

Yes, I agree that. A company have a licence about pipe tobaccos import to the Turkey but they dont use that. Maybe they can't measure demand to pipe tobacco in Turkey or anything else, (procedure processes or etc.) I don't know completely.

I'm from Canada and the situation here is dire mainly due to the price and availability of quality tobacco. A 50 gram tin of tobacco will cost you over $70CAD, about $50 USD.

Wow I knew you guys had it rough but not how much. So I guess most of the Sutliff stuff wasn't even really available to you right? Being US sale only probably spotty and difficult and expensive at best... at least you can get Cubans tho I guess..?

I believe Sutliff made the two lines of Brigham pipe tobaccos for Canada. Neither was anything special, and prices were in the $60 range.

If our some friends have goes to abroad they have a right buy for 250grams pipe tobacco for personal consumption. That's a way or we have a few pipe tobacco makers locally. We can't goes to any tobacco shop and take a tin.

Yes, we can take any cigar type because it's not illegal or difficult.

What about the company Gladora? I believe its a Turkish company that seems to be quite the rage in European market with its Oriental/Latakia flakes. This company sells nothing in Turkiye? Is it all for export? That would be sad.

Unfortunately, we have become one of the most passionate communities as we try to continue this hobby under very difficult conditions.

There is only one company that produces legally because it is subject to very strict legal procedures. Their tobacco is also sold in boxes similar to cigarette boxes because it is forbidden to sell it in tins. Apart from that, there are 3 other people who produce secretly in the community; however, the quality is not very high because it is almost impossible to get tobacco leaves.

So what do you smoke?

We consume tobacco from the legal brand I mentioned and the 3 illegal brands. Other than that, we can buy the tobacco you can reach from the black market for about 3 times the price; however, we can only buy whatever falls on the black market. Unfortunately, we do not have a choice.

When our friends or we go abroad, we have the right to bring up to 250 grams of tobacco with us. We can also obtain tobacco this way.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get any of them anyway. So STG's nonsense didn't affect us at all. I can't even touch the Virginia Slices I bought years ago.

The sad part for us is that some of the tobacco you smoke comes from here. For example, 2 out of 3 tobaccos in C&D Sun Bear Tupelo are from here; but those two tobaccos were never available to us.

As I explained above, we can't buy the tins that you can buy. Because of the legal procedures, they have to be sold in a box like a cigarette box. So they are packaged in a very humid state. For the first few years after production, they were like mud. So we had to air them a lot.


But for pipes, the situation is the opposite. We have a lot of pipe makers and we really have a serious price advantage over producers abroad. We can probably buy handmade pipes for half the price; however, it is still difficult to reach foreign pipe makers.

Most people in the community know each other. We can say that we have had to come together due to circumstances. We probably do the most tobacco barter. Since we know what everyone smokes and which tobacco they like the most, I can say that we buy the tobacco that one of us finds for the other.

Of course, since we are a very closed community, it is very difficult for new members to join. Our friend who opened the topic plans to solve this problem soon. Since he opened the Youtube channel, we have been able to include many people who are new to the community or who do not know about the community. I also have an Instagram account that I use under my own name. Many people reach out to me from there.

If we can develop the community here, you will not have to deal with STG nonsense. We think that very solid producers can emerge. Because we have a tobacco variety that you would never think of. We also have a geographical location that can revive Syrian Latakia.

Frankly, since meerschaum pipes have been in serious demand in the Chinese market, it has become impossible to buy them. Because they have become too expensive for us.
