Yeah no prob, university was recommended by my pipe mentor, it is a fantastic viginian. i dont actually know what sherlock holmes is, a virginian or an aromatic, its kinda like both i guess.

UF, or University Flake, is a wonderful virginia/burley flake with a very light casing of plum. Pretty strong on the vitamin-n, but definitely a great smoke. Sherlock Holmes is mostly a virginia blend with a bit of burley in to cool the smoke down and balance it out. It has a fruit flavour most say is like dried apricots. I enjoy both, Holmes more than UF though. If you liked Sherlock Holmes you may want to check out Peterson's Luxury Blend. It's a wonderful virginia/burley/black cavendish blend cased with a wonderful mixture of orange, honey and vanilla.

I hate to turn this into a "Try 'em all!!!" type of thing, but Old Dublin is a good intro to Latakia for me. The blend is tasty, cool-smoking and just plain satisfying. However, I cannot give a +1 to their Sunset Breeze blend (refer to my thread about my experiences with it, floating around on here somewhere). Just didn't do it for me :?

University Flake is really a nice smoke. I have yet to have a Peterson blend that I really don't like. Amongst my favourites are UF - Nutty Cut and if you like a real solid whack of Old Mother Nicotine, Irish Flake.

Can't wait to try the Nutty Cut. I have a tin of UF that I haven't opened yet...I have MANY tins I haven't opened yet.

Both of those sound great, I'll be sure to keep a lookout for them. The only Peterson blend I've had is Old Dublin. It's pretty good as well.

+1 Old Dublin is my go-to English. I will be opening a new tin shortly. I don't have one open right now 'cause I've been focusing on clearing out a bunch of Altadis latakia bulks I got a couple of months back.
Uni Flake is too high in nic for me, and Irish Flake was OMG.
Oh, and there;s a tin of Sherlock Holmes in the cellar, waiting to hit the 5 year mark.
:puffy:

I like the UF a lot especially some days after opening the box whenit bcomes a little drier.

Actually the tobacco is made in Germany here by Kohlhase and Kopp and here is a list of all Peterson tobaccos ( sorry only in German) but you can see the boxes

Would be interesting for me to know whether you guys get all these taboccos in the US as well or maybe others from Peterson.

I have a pipe dedicated to Sherlock Holmes. UF has been a long time favorite and so has IF. But the best one of them all is Irish Oak.

Ernst is of course correct. Peterson stopped blending their own tobaccos years ago. Murray's of Dublin used to do it, but they are gone now.
