Hello all, I am trying to identify this pipe. It was my great uncles who was like a father to my dad and when my great uncle passed my dad gave it to me because he doesn't smoke. It has "Caroleer" on the side but I don't think it could be one of the custom built ones. I'm also not sure if my great uncle got this from his father or a shop. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!1000059706.jpg

In the book titled Who Made That Pipe? by Herb Wilczak & Tom Colwell there are two listings for "Caroleer." The first shows "John Hudson Moore, Inc., 1943, USA/ ENGL" as maker. The second shows, "Possibly by Sasieni, ENGL" as maker.

I'm not a betting man, but I would guess that John Hudson Moore, Inc. made it in an attempt to coat-tail off of the popularity of the Custom-Bilt pipe.

I hope that this information is helpful to you.

Yeah, it’s plainly in the Custombilt style. But not quite as good in the carving department.
English pipes are usually marked as such. Lacking that I vote for the US company.
It’s a chunky thick walled pipe. Probably a nice smoke.

This wood is dry as heck and it current tastes like salt and some kind of perfume so I also need to figure out what you do about that before you smoke out of it, or if you just say screw it and pack a bowl and smoke that stuff out.
