I like the second... but as other have mentioned, if the funds arent really there then get the first one and spend the rest on tobacco.... but I do like the second one :)
EDIT: No you can chuck the filter

Undoubtedly, without question you will like the Leonardo more. I own quite a few Savinelli pipes, including 5 of the 6 models of the Leonardo line, 3 of them are rusticated, 2 of them are smooth, the only one I don't have is the Bombarda. They are some of my best smokers. The self-portrait you're looking at is the second best smoker of the group, behind the Mona Lisa which is pretty difficult to find for sale now. The Leonardo line has better quality briar and a little more attention to detail and craftsmanship then Sav's lower lines.
That being said, you won't be dissapointed with either one. A $70 dollar Savinelli rivals most $150 pipes in smoking qualities in my experience. If you can afford it I would go with the Da Vinci.

They come with an adapter to stick in the stem in place of the filter, not sure exactly what the effect on pipe geometry is if you don't use it. Some of my Sav's have the adapter in them some don't, don't really tell a difference.

Awesome, you won't regret it, but hopefully you don't become so enamored with it that you go on a hell-bent quest to acquire all of them.

I'd pick up the da Vinci personally. Also, Savinelli has a line on Cup O Joe's that I'm really wanting to get a 920 in, the Solaria. Might wanna check that out if you're into dublins/zulus and different colored stems. If different colored stems are off putting totally disregard everything I've said lol. Savinelli's smoke wonderfully, no matter what shape/finish you go with you'll enjoy it.
