I believe the original poster spent $16 for the Dominican Cohibas, not the Cuban Cohibas. For the Dominicans you're basically just paying for the name.

I'm not really an educated cigar consumer; what's a good high end medium-sized cigar available at Smokingpipes.com for example? (In addition to that, what's a good maduro recommendation? I'd like to at least smoke one well-made example, I've heard so much about them)
Pipes will always be number one but I wouldn't mind having a handful of cigars on hand to smoke throughout the year.

If meerschaumsteve has bought his cigar in the US, it's impossible it's cuban (Because of the embargo!).
As for a good cigar suggestion on smokingpipes.com, I like CAO LX2. Alec Bradley Black Market is good also but is not listed (maybe other Alec Bradley are good, but haven't tried). But taste is personal, isn't it? Arturo Fuente is also highly rated.
So, don't buy Montecristo, Romeo, Cohiba, Hoyo or other cuban sounding names on a US site. They can't be Cuban.
