Miss McCarthy told Viva!life, a magazine for vegans: ‘I really believe that meat should be treated in exactly the same way as tobacco, with public campaigns to stop people eating it.
‘Progress on animal welfare is being made at EU level … but in the end it comes down to not eating meat or dairy.’

The root of this insanity, revealed. There must always be a war, and if it cannot be against an enemy, it must be against ourselves.

We could start our own campaign... post pictures of the acne ridden, too thin, thinning hair, undernourished, little creeps that work in health food stores.

Every time I walk into a health food store to pick up some item that can't be found anywhere else, I am reminded of how unhealthy the crap they sale must be. All of the employees of every health food store I've ever walked into looks like death is just a breath away. :::shivers::: That's why I am not into healthy stuff. It just looks horrid.

Man has heart attack.
Random Stranger: "Is there a doctor in the house?"
Vegan: "I'm a vegan!"

Best sentence in the article...
"One listener wrote to the BBC, likening the appointment of Miss McCarthy as Labour’s environment, food and rural affairs spokesman to ‘having an Archbishop of Canterbury who is an atheist’."
You get what you get and don't throw a fit.

I wouldn't waste my time to read the article, Progressive Thought is not logical nor is it safe for consumption. It creates dependence which in turn feeds totalitarianism. There is only one way to destroy this sin that is restriction....Our founders were explicit about this with the 2nd Amendment. Thank God this is in the EU. But you can bet it's coming here soon in a White House near you.

Sorry, I just find it ironic that Allister Crowley, the man who inspired the whole counter culture movement that set off the occult, new-age spiritualism, hippies, metal heads, vegans, etc.. He railed against conservatism and everything associated with it. And, here he is against progressiveness. Sorry, I just find it interesting. It would be like seeing the avatar of Nixon, raging against the tea party.

I don't mind if someone wants to not eat meat or dairy. Fair warning though, the human species, like dogs and bears, has evolved to be omnivorous. We can eat a variety of kinds of food and process them in such a way as to survive and even thrive. But individual people have adapted by habit and everyone needs to be extremely careful about dropping significant parts of their diet like meat and dairy. Substitutions can be made, but only very very carefully. I had a family member who tried to make the transition for health reasons and developed serious full-blown vertigo and the nausea that goes with it. Some animals can't survive without meat, for example the cat family. They have evolved with short intestines that require mostly protein in the form of meat. Omnivorous animals like dogs will sometimes eat cat droppings because of the residual nutrition not taken up the cat gut (sorry about that). I've never tried eating only vegetarian. However, I agree that more plant matter and less meat is probably healthy for most people on a typical "American (U.S.)" diet. If meat were forbidden, the emergency rooms would be brimming with people who don't adapt well.

Cosmic, that was the saddest swipe I've seen on Crowley in a long time. Getting to know Crowley takes more than a Wikipedia search. Sounds like I hit a nerve with your progressive outlook on life. Crowley was more Ayn Rand than inspiring counter culture. Besides Crowley was a lover of perique as am I. Thats why I chose his avatar.

It's the same mentality behind anti-meat, anti-smoking and crusades against other life-positive pleasures: they can't face the real issue (our civilization is collapsing) so have found a scapegoat that allows some to be happier than others, which, as you know, is not an "equal" circumstance. Let people smoke, drink, do drugs and die young if they so wish. What are we trying to do, preserve people who don't want to be here and also make everyone miserable ("equally") at the same time? Government makes no sense.

It's a bit more complex than that. For example, many see the "progress" of today as equivalent to the "conservatives" of the 1920s-1950s. Crowley found most progressives odious, but then again, he was a man of many contradictions. The weird thing about studying the occult is that it tends to take the convenient categories used by our modern society and split them in strange, unorthodox, asymmetrical ways.
