I was watching Treasure Island the other day and started wondering what Wallace Beery was smoking out of his clay pipe. Anyone know what type of tobacco they actually smoked in those days?

There's probably no way of finding that information. However, Kramer's Tobacco Shop in LA is pretty famous for catering to the Hollywood set. If Wallace Beery was a "real" pipe smoker then chances are he know about this shop.

Sorry, should have been more specific. What I meant was, what people actually smoked in those clay pipes in the 1700's.

This has been posted on and off over the last couple of years.

IF this is true, and I think it probably is, I would think this is what they may have smoked back in the day.
