It's that good an idea, worth two posts.

A full garbage bag works. I know because I recently trapped a squirrel by accident. They're always in that particular dumpster, so I kick it when I throw out the trash there. Works every single time except that one time. I threw the bag in and heard the squirrel try and move. Then I heard it whimper. I don't mind killing animals for a reason but injuring them for no reason sucks. The little bastard was fine though. Though it works, not great for transport.

I used one of these when a squirrel was in my attic. Picked it up from the hardware store and used a dab of peanut butter and some sunflower seeds as the bait. I then transported it to the woods a town over from us. I would have preferred to just shoot him (or her) but my wife would have thrown a fit. I hate squirrels.

My father in law uses this to trap squirrels in his backyard, and then takes them to the next town over. He caught 40+ last summer.

Doesn't seem to be that many around this year...

I got a "Squirrelinator" trap at a farm supply store - the Havahart seemed too finicky, this one works so long as they nose their way in (no way out).

Not sure yet about squirrels but . . . this morning it bagged a young raccoon, so glad to not have one of those poking about, and now alert there could be more. I'm buying another trap and will have one near the deck and one near the garden. Kind of like the Hotel California - they can check in any time they like ……..
