What they're not reporting on is that when he finally did get on the plane, it did the same thing--got to the destination and just went around in circles forever. At least with the car you can jump out. You might be nursing some serious gravel burn afterward, but that's better than a 30,000 foot descent to the hard earth. At least that's my guess...

Waiting to see if this is real. If it is, my wife will for sure never get it one of these. I’ve been wanting to try it, but now…???

It's real alright. There was a much worse incident with one of these recently as well...driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic.

I actually found myself driving behind one of these things about a week ago. I gave it plenty of room until I was able to get around it.

Elon Musk might be the wealthiest person to have ever lived, and his wealth came from making the first really practical and affordable electric car that sold millions.

For the last ten years his company has worked to perfect the truly autonomous car.

In 2025 40,000 Americans will die and almost a half trillion dollars will be lost because of auto crashes, over 90% with human error playing a critical factor.

When almost every car is autonomous they’ll be programmed to not crash into each other. You’ll speak an address where you want to go and it will take you there, safely. The savings in blood and treasure will be enormous,

These robotaxis are the first step.

I just hope they have ashtrays.:)

To be fair, he only made $175,000,000 (yes, that’s the correct amount of zeroes) before even founding Tesla when he sold his shares of PayPal (which he cofounded) back in 2002…

And you can deduct (for now) 80% of 44,000,000,000 (44 B Billion) he invested in Twitter.:)

When he doubles his net worth he’ll be the world’s first trillioniare, on paper (digital units).

Henry Ford was an eccentric, too.

He didn’t launch his own satellites or space plane, but he churned out B-24 bombers with autopilots.

Ford cars still had a provision to be hand cranked almost 35 years after the automatic starter.

I wonder when the last car with a steering wheel and pedals for backup is made?

Musk is not eccentric. He is flat out a jerk and a poor example of a human being.

I take nothing away from his intelligence but the mixture of intellegence and crazy wealth has ruined him and he is taking as many people with him as possible down the tubes.

The problem with that kind of power and wealth is you can afford for zero wakeup calls. Humans need regular events to humble them. Otherwise a person will tend to become a giant putz.

I actually saw this yesterday, and there are other videos of people getting stuck in them.

The very idea of self-driving cars goes against American ideals, humanity, and is an attack on masculinity in all forms. I don't like to let anyone else drive me somewhere to begin with. But, has it not been the threshold of becoming an adult to get your driver's license? Has it not been the American Ideal to get a car and be set free to go where you want to go, in the way that you want to go?

People who root for CNC machines, 3D printers, AI, and driverless cars are some special kind of technophile that gets off on this shit. Let's pile these perverts into a boat and send them to their own island where they can live in their own little technology based realities.
I don't even know what to think of a person who would be thrilled to let someone else drive, much less some machine with no life to risk. I'm sorry, but that is some special kind of scumbag,

Technology makes us more and more stupid as it evolves. At one time, people had to keep oil checked, change spark plugs, put water in their batteries... now, we have warning labels not to bath in used or drink the liquid in batteries. People have not always been this stupid. Men used to be able to cut a circle in wood by eye, using a saw blade mounted between a U-shaped frame. Now, we have morons on TV telling us that aliens built the pyramids because people today are too stupid to figure out how a thing can be done. I actually heard a demo to a table saw attachment say that it is impossible for a person to make a perfect circle without a computer.

Because an engineer can develop such a thing, does not always mean that we should.

We are replacing hundreds of jobs on production lines with robotics, and then trying to figure out where all of the good jobs went.

I am disgusted by modern men, and I hesitate to call them men.

Preach on, brother!.:)

It’s been over fifty years ago since the best mechanic and the mayor of Humansville, Kenneth Ireland, showed me a gadget in a brand new car.

Kenneth claimed that electronic ignition modules would leave the owner stranded beside the road, because he couldn’t use an emery file to clean the points and limp home.

Today a new car has from 1,400 to 3,000 computer chips that only cost a few cents each. All together about $500.

My youngest son recently bought a 1968 Chevelle Malibu with a 327 four barrel and a Powerglide, of all things.

I went out with him and was explaining what contact ignition points were, and when he took off the distributor cap they’d been replaced with chips.:)

The first thing he did was order a plastic gas tank for less than a hundred bucks, and rebuild the carb and replace all the fuel lines.

No matter how much we geezers complain about the march of technology we always get left behind, and a new generation improves on what we accomplished.

I don’t really like all this new technology, but they never do ask me about it before they do it, you know?

Improved? Ha
When I went to buy a car a few years ago, I looked at the pricing, saw that I was being charged extra for an automatic transmission. I asked them to give me one with an manual. They told me that they don't make them. My whole point was "why am I paying more for something that is standard on all of their models?"

He said that no one wants manuals, and within 20 minutes of me driving him crazy on the price points, he said that he was sick and tired of people asking for manual transmissions.

I had that ah ha, gotcha moment. No one wants them, and you are sick and tired of people asking for them.

We don't want any of this shit. Ohhh, maybe some goofball science geeky techno-perverts do. Screw them.
This stuff is getting forced down our throats.
Automatic transmissions, computers, GPS mappings... hell, I HATE the satellite radios. First thing I rip out of all of my new cars, and I go buy a nice sound system.

Now, self-driving cars. No one is asking for this. Just like AI. The only people who want AI are people who don't want to pay someone for doing creative work. This should piss everyone off.
The only people who want self driving cars are sickos. Definitely not real men that I would have any respect for.

Nobody really knew they wanted a Model T until Henry Ford made the first reliable and affordable car that sold for about a year and half’s wages at the time.

To become as rich as Henry Ford or Bill Gates or Elon Musk you must have extraordinary powers of predicting human behavior.

Not long ago we’d have to drive to a coffee shop to discuss all these weighty issues concerning our world.:)

Before the Model T they had to ride a horse to the general store and sit around the stove.

My wife has another doctor’s appointment today and within hours the results of any tests she has will appear on her phone.

They gave me a scan for lung cancer, and that makes you a Christian waiting for those results.:) So far I’ve not got it.

My great grandfather bought a brand new 1908 Model T. He hated it so much he had his kids drive it.

My father bought the first gasoline tractors for our farm during World War Two. He paid off the tractors and farm in two good years. His father kept on plowing with Perchons.

My wife bought some pumpkins for Halloween outside a hospital. The farmer there was peddling them to all the women and all us men were loading them in the back of our SUVs.

He also sold the ladies corn stalks.

He told me another farmer plants his 100 acres to corn on shares using a half million dollar tractor and harvests the crop with a million dollar combine, and both have GPS technology.

He showed me the drone he uses to spray the crops. This year he says he’ll buy a bigger drone. He pours in chemicals and the drone sprays the field all by itself.

We get our technology because of the freedom of capitalists to chase the almighty dollar.

The beauty is they can’t get rich off gadgets we cannot afford.
