I also did find it a bit amusing how upset some posters were about painting all members of the police with a broad and stereotypical brush.
Well let's see:

Dishonest

Jack-booted thug

Assholes

Fascists

Power hungry
Those were a few I picked out after skimming through this again. I'm glad you are amused Peck. I guess the officers present and those who have decided to take our unpopular side should just grin and bear it.
But see, I won't resort to name calling and insults. I can endure what gets dished out but I don't have to like it. I already said once that I was disappointed to see this here. I guess I just thought I could have a place free from ridicule and outright bashing. Heck, if I want to put up with this, I may as we'll go to work!
I will disagree with you here too:
[/quote]nobody likes them
Speak for yourself. Criminals typically don't but the average citizen doesn't give me this impression at all.
To the OP, I'm not offended at all by your post. It was an observation you made after being treated crappy by an officer. If he in fact did violate your 4th Amendment protections then you should file a complaint. I apply the law as the conservative that I am. I give folks the benefit of the doubt and believe that people should be free and able to live their lives without being unnecessarily intruded upon. I try to keep in mind that each person I deal with regardless of who they are and what they come from is someone's daughter, wife, husband, son, etc. and if an officer ever treated one of my loved ones unfairly or poorly they would hear about it.

I use lawyers for the cases they are designed to fight, like mesothelioma and vagina mesh mishaps. :nana:

anyone getting ticketed 7 times for speeding must be an habitual speeder. pay attention and slow down when the speed limit changes.

Actually dizzy, if you read my post closely you will see that I was amused not because I agree with them, but because I am a member of a profession that is targeted in a similar fashion, but is never defended to the same extent that you were on this thread (including by me, by the way). I feel and share your pain.

Actually Doc you just admitted in your earlier post that you are a habitual speeder. I have a pristine record.
who evidently pays a hell of a lot more attention to the road then you do.. last speeding ticket I got was in 1967 just after I bought a brand spanking new GTO. you only have a clean ticket because you have deep pockets and can BS you way out of them. as someone else has mentioned this post has run it's course.

I learned many years ago that the aggrieved parties only tell the bit of the story they want you to hear so that you will commiserate with them. I never form an opinion based on one side of a story. Hell, I never form an opinion unless there is some proof. He said, she said is sometimes entertaining, very rarely does it lead to anything of interest.
When cornered at a party with these one sided tales I would only nod, feign interest, and suggest that they come to my office and file a formal complaint. They would also be advised that the filing a false complaint would result in charges. It wasn't all that often that the party followed through. And, every now and then, an officer would be found at fault and disciplined.

And while we are at it, since speeding is not a worthy task for officers to devote time to, how about some sobering statistics from NHTSA?
In a short visit to their website, I learned that statistics for 2012 say that 33,561 people were killed in crashes. 1168 of those were children 14 and under. Now let's say only 20% of those were due to speed. That means that 6712 people died from speed. Hmm.

In the same set of circumstances, would you consent to a search, or advise loved ones to do so?
In this circumstance, the trooper removed him from his truck and searched it without consent . At least, that's how I read it. If he had asked based upon seeing the pipe, I would have told him to have at it as long as he was polite and had some tact. If he was rude, absolutely not.
Noted, Peck. Sorry, it's my thin skin....gets me going every time.

A sobering statistic dhizzy. I agree with you. I don't intentionally speed. Around here though they seem to set the traps not to deter speeding but to raise revenue, in the most obscure and bizarre locations imaginable, and that frankly irks me.
Here's another sobering statistic:

I would definitely get the Hemi if I went for the Durango. Even though the wife will be the one to drive it most often, I want the power for the odd time I take the wheel. I will take power over fuel economy any day of the week, lol.
No, I got the 2014 SRT8. It has a 6.4L Hemi with 470 HP. Fun to drive. I test drove the diesel but it was a little lethargic for my taste.

For those accused of speeding who cannot afford a skilled attorney and must represent themselves, it may help to learn from the misfortune of others arising from misguided courtroom tactics:

Man im glad I dont own a car anymore. Yet I admit i've never been pulled over for 'no reason'.

Ive never been asked to have my car searched either, which is probably good. That would not have worked out in my favour back in my bad days.
Ive seen a lot of posts of people saying a lot of things about reasons to suspect in the eye of the law.
What i've seen? As an active punk/metalhead in this city? Not a lot of good things. Punks beaten in the streets? People who belong to my subculture harassed, cuffed and searched for just walking? Yes.
Fellow peers constantly pulled over cause they have a mohawk or a studded jacket, then released after wasting 30 min or thier time? Yes.
Does an alarm go off in my head everytime I see a cop or RCMP? Absolutely.
These people are paid by our tax dollars to keep us safe. How can I trust and respect anyone that doesnt respect who I am, and has created an environment of mistrust?
Thankfully ive never been in a situation where I was targeted individually, and when attempting to intervene on an obvious abuse of power was not caught, cause I know when to run.
Who polices the citizens we give power and the right to bear arms to use at thier discretion?
I dont trust them, never have. None of my close friends trust them.
Im sure there's nice cops out there, but im turning 40 this year. I really couldnt be bothered. I have better stuff to do, and less time to waste on a corrupt system spitting out brainwashed civil soldiers with little to no psychological screening.
I'll just try to stay under the radar.
Dont even get me started on CBSC, and the amount of rights you lose running into them. Not to mention thier prejudiced way of screening.

I'm sorry you feel that way, skapunk1. I thought we had a lot in common, but it turns out I'm just a brainless civil soldier. I guess I should quit my rock band, sell my metal memorabilia, and start abusing people based on the way they dress, rather than their behaviour.
