I had fun wrenching on my car for a few years. In the last two years I’ve been hit twice (one was a hit and run that left a permanent gash on my right rear panel/door) and side swiped once.

03 Crown Vic with 43k miles when I bought it.
I’ll try to remember the mods I’ve done.
Stainless Works catless long tube headers into a Borla exhaust.
Custom air intake with upgraded MAF and ported/polished plenum.
Steeda underdrive pulleys.
MSD cops.
JMOD transmission upgrade.
Aluminum driveshaft to 3.73 Ford Racing gears inside a Detroit Trutrac LSD w/ updated spline count rear axles.
93 octane tune.
18 x 8.5 wheels and fancy brakes/rotors.
I feel like I’m forgetting stuff.

Too heavy to be truly fast, but it will smoke any Crown Vic cop car.
Not sure about the 18's, but other than that, it sounds like it's time for a nitrous kit.

Here's me at the track on my FZ-10. I got the lady into it this year at well. Now she wants to compete lol.

COVID made it hard to get out as much as I wanted - I did maybe 6? days on the track this year.

Anyways I'll do some car track stuff in the future. I've got other financial stuff that takes precedence - buying a new dirt bike and building my tobacco cellar set me back enough.

I'm usually at Thunder Hill but have plans to head down to Laguna Seca this next year.

Called my 'cuz this week who lives in Florida. Now that man has a stable of cars and frequents car shows, cruise in's, and automobile auctions. He has a 'Vette, a Deuce Coupe Ford, and the original muscle car he bought new working construction, a '67 Plymouth Barracuda Hemi done to his specifications at the factory. He was an only kid, and he and his parents were all hot drivers. His mom was pulled by the State Police driving the 'Cuda when she was in her sixties. Though she was not from Pasadena. My cuz's wife drives an up-market SUV. My dad really disliked cars, the whole status thing, and we had used cars always, until I left home and he bought a VW bug new.

It's arguable, but I think automobiles are losing ground with younger generations. There is a heretofore rare breed, now increasing, that doesn't even want to be licensed to drive nor own a car at all, and they design their employment and residences accordingly. While I probably take this as a kind of irresponsibility, there are some respectable reasons for it.

Car prices and starting salaries discourage car ownership beyond the entry clunker level.

Cars are no longer do-it-yourself repair projects in many cases, and service is pricey.

Driving doesn't feel liberating as it did when I was growing up. It's a long drive to the open road for many teenagers.

Student debt makes living without a car an attractive financial decision for many.

Wow, some famous asphalt! I'd love to take a spin down thru the corkscew at Laguna Seca in my MGB!
Awesome stretch of track. ? I think the elevation drop through that section is like 60’ or something. Almost six stories.
I think the only bit of track I might like better is Raidillon-Eau Rouge at Spa.

I love my Pontiac G8 GT for its speed and comfort. It'll light up the tires when I want it to and goes around corners like a champ. When I want it to be though, it's a comfy cruiser. It needs some maintenance before it's ready for a track day again but hopefully next summer.

That makes it a perfect candidate for at least a hundred-shot!
Usually I'd agree but it's currently my daily driver.

Almost bit the big one last night too. I do t know how (fancy drivin!) i managed to avoid three cars while we all slammed our brakes to avoid some jackass running across the street. I was able to jump a curb and slash a gaping hole in a front tire at the same time. Luckily my spare is full size.

I’ve seen those Pontiac G8 GTs used as chase cars for U-2s.
The U-2 reconnaissance plane has bicycle landing gear, and is also notoriously difficult to land because of how severe the input has to be at low altitudes, not to mention its tendency to want to float over the runway because of the amount of lift those long wings generate.
In order to land safely, a second U-2 pilot trails behind the aircraft on the ground in a fast chase car (usually a muscle car with good acceleration) talking the pilot down and calling out altitude and attitude until he gets down to about two feet above the ground, then the pilot stalls the plane and it falls to the tarmac.
