Tounge has turned black!!!

Well this is a new one for me. I have suffered tounge burn and tounge bite before on more than one occasion. Sore for a few days, biotene, etc. Generally goes away easily. This time, entire tounge is black, yes black, almost the whole top section!!! The only thing i done different was had a couple pipes of penzance. I really cant figure it out. Tounge is sore, and black and roof of mouth is sore. This is going on 4 days now. Got any opinions???

Was smoking Penzance the only thing you've changed in the past four days? Could it possibly be something you eat or drink that's leaving the color?
Note to self: must remember to stay away from Penzance; just in case.

A red wine has turned my tongue a very dark color... but it only lasts until I brush it off.
It won't come off with a toothbrush and toothpaste? If it's been like that for 4 days I'd let your Primary Care Physician check it out.

ya i just googled it. is called hairy tounge lol. can be caused by number of things such as; smoking, coffee, antibiotics, pepto bismal tabs, etc, takes awhile to go away, you cant just brush it off, i think i burned it bad nuff that it has to recover now. Only gonna smoke plain ROY cig baccy in pipe for couple days i guess. When it goes away, ill try penzance again an see what happens.

If it's been like that for 4 days I'd let your Primary Care Physician check it out.

But if you think you may have found it, good for you. If it doesn't clear up in a couple of days of laying off the pipe, I would go see a Doc though.

nope nothin different. no p-lip pipe either, 5 new baccy's is all; penzance, double eagle, my buddy and sweet briar and spartan's english. I did start antibiotics too. so its either a reaction to the baccy or the antibiotics, however i have never had a reaction to anitbiotcs before. i am amazed that no one on here has ever had a similiar reaction tho

That sounds horrible, have you tried snuff instead of smoking for a few days? Hope you are better soon!

the worst part is that i dont smoke for Hobby, i smoke for enjoyment and addiction. so going without is not an option for me.

Nasal snuff can give you a lot of nicotine, it might be worth trying. At work this is my go to since I am in an office environment, that has no smoking allowed on the property.

Sorry to hear about your tounge, I hope it's not painful. If it does not go away maybe you should get it looked at.
