+ another one on all the above, ssjones. My mom passed away now 6 years ago after a horrific battle with Parkinsons... not an hour goes by that I don't miss her and cherish her memory. My dad passed suddenly in 1980... seems like a whole different lifetime at this point. And not long ago, a cat that had been in our family since around 2000 "crossed the rainbow bridge" as local cat fanciers say. He had been my daughter's pet since the beginning and had been with her through three continental moves and a failed marriage. He would crawl up and hug her like a little boy and then always try to steal the hair-tie out of her ponytail. She's still finding little stashes of hair-ties. Family and family love is all that ever really matters and lasts. I believe it transcends birth, life, and death. One of my favorite authors says that if we look deeply, we see that ALL of our ancestors live on in us. I think that's true as well. You have a beautiful family and you are celebrating and cherishing that. What a great and lovely thing!

Condolences. Your Dad's right, of course, but losing a dog's not nothing, is it. I took some joy out of seeing that, for all your losses, there's a new family member soon to arrive.
thanks for sharing, for letting us know these people a bit. My senior prom was a year earlier than yours, and the car was a '69 Gran Torino. But someplace I have a picture VERY much like yours. [Wonderful you two have been together that long.]

Al sorry about your Mother in Law, pass my sorries to your wife. Understand about the dog, lost 2 and as I get older it don't get easier. Ray of Sunshine is your little Family, still lucky you are.
