If "top" means my favorite of the time period it's an easy answer for me. Lots of films I've enjoyed the past 24 years - "Gladiator", Craig's turns in "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall", LOTR TFOTR, other films more "serious", several documentaries including the one about Nolan Ryan in particular, even a couple mindless Hallmark flicks for Christmas, lol. But "Almost Famous" is so well written, takes me back to a particular age/time and for me is almost heartbreakingly entertaining in parts and laugh out loud funny most of the time - great cast and of course, a pretty important one missing below.

We rewatched this the other day and it’s a great movie. Just really well done.

That's a long period of time, and for much of it Hollywood was still making watchable movies, so this is just a quick list...I'm sure I'm missing some...but the first 3 would be on a short list of my all time favorite films.

Maps to the Stars
No Country For Old Men
Inception

O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Burn After Reading
LOTR trilogy
There Will be Blood
Million Dollar Baby
Gran Torino
Mystic River
Letters From Iwo Jima
Changeling
Hereafter
J. Edgar
Richard Jewell

EDIT: have to add The Prestige

That's the ticket! Of those movies in your list I have seen, agree 100%. Makes me think that the others in your list are ones I'd like, too. So double thank you.

One that I've never seen on any list is The Road to Wellville. Absolutely hilarious, and good illustrations and send ups of some of the "sound medical advice" doled out in the early 20th C.
