Yo,
My buddy lives across the pond and has said he will send me some baccy along with a gift he wants to send. Naturally I brough up the topic and he's happy to oblige/ ;)
So.. what's good? I can get all the great English made stuff here but none of the seemingly endless unheard round here stuff you guys are puffing away on!
My first thoughts were Half & Half, just because it's old school American baccy and I guess it's like Condor in that it's unique and really old. (maybe not as good?..)
And I did ask to see if he can get Cotton Boll twist.. just because it's infamously strong and uniquely feared lol.
I'm getting into strong pure Burley atm and always love strong latakia blends. Not into aromatics though (even though half n half is one).
Any help??
Many thanks

Prince Albert and Captain Black White are about as American as it gets, if you are going for OTC/regular guy tobaccos that are smoked by the greatest number of American pipe smokers.

War Horse Rub Your Own, John Cottons 1 as well as 1&2 and Bengal Slices which my German friends go crazy over for some unknown reason. I suppose you could send him Mixture 79 or Prince Albert in a tin.

Yo samo - I would add John Cotton Smyrna to the above post. I'm surprised no one mentioned any of Greg Pease's most stellar blends, especially if you are into Latakias. Your strategy may be best served by taking into consideration the new FDA Deeming rules, as well as the difficulty of shipping some tobaccos from the US. This would steer you into the Hearth & Home series.
In terms of sectors of the taste universe that are different here, McClelland Virginias occupy a unique spot vs the usual run of Euro- and Brit-VAs.

What comes immediately to mind has already been mentioned. So, two outstanding but less celebrated blends, Nat Sherman 536 and Low Country Cooper. Also, harking back to one of the greats of the past, Walnut, I like the Russ O. take on it, Chestnut in the PC Midtown Series. Depending on your friend's idea about aromatics, Edward G. Robinson is a nice bit of Americana.

That's a pretty great list of a good American selection/tour. Some of my recommendations mirror tisel's but, of Course we all have our own variations and preferences so...

Codger blend - Carter Hall

Amazing new VAPer- GLP Triple Play

Latakia blend w/ a little extra Something- GLP Sextant

Solid Lat- GLP Westminster

Best tasing VA EVER!- Blackwoods Flake

Burley Based (w/ Perique) - Haunted Bookshop

It's probably obvious that I often favor GLP blends, but there's a reason the guy has such a following.

Hope you get something you like, there are many amazing blends here in the colonies

Thanks for the advice so far gent's!
Apart from half & half which I just really wanna try for the experience, I'm probably gona go for..
.Haunted bookshop. Sounds like great stuff!

.Big and Burley

.Frog Morton cellar
Might try and lean towards Burley as something is up with Latakia and my taste buds atm.
Can't go nuts as I'll be taxed out the ass by itnernational customs etc. Or I'd get a massive bunch of tins..

You really should try G.L. Pease's Haddo's Delight. It's technically a VaPer, but it's really in a class by itself. Pease might be the top blender in the U.S., and there's a reason Haddo's has more reviews than any other Pease blend. And there's nothing like it available on your side of the pond. I'd pick Prince Albert over Half & Half, but your choice is fine. You should really try a McClelland Virginia, as the flakes produced here are very different from anything you have available. Blackwoods Flake was mentioned above. It's a great choice for what you're looking for.
