Too Much Rattle?

I was looking for a specific tin this morning, and came across a tin of Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls from 2017. It seemed to rattle a tad more than I thought it should. I grabbed a Peterson tin dated 2020, and it had significantly less shake to it. I twisted with all I’m worth on the Dunhill lid, and it didn’t budge, so the seal seems intact

So, is this a nothing burger? Do tins develop a bit more shake and rattle as they age? Are the Peterson tins packed tighter than the Dunhill tins? Or is it time to open the Dunhill tin to see what I got?

My OCD tells me that tin isn’t next. But Navy Rolls are never a bad thing….

The only time I've actually noticed was a rectangular tin of 2016 SG and when i shook the tin it sounded like it was full of matchsticks and when i barley applied pressure to the lid it flew off onto the floor seemed sealed until i touched it LOL

they're better drier anyways. But coins can get pretty rattle heavy while maintaining moisture.

I wouldn't worry about it until after tin is opened. Of course, once it's opened, you might not have to worry at all other than how soon that blend will be smoked and gone.

So yeah. This is the way. I honestly feel a tad silly not thinking of that. The Dunhill tin actually weighs a smidge more than the Peterson tins. Guess all is well! Thanks!!

I always go by how concave the lid feels. Compare with some other tins... an opened tin will be easier to squeeze inward, too.

Get some gasoline ready. In case the tin is full of diamond backs. Sure by the size of tin, they would be babies, but give 'em an inch and they will take the yard.

..... and speaking of tins that don't want to open.... I keep a screwdriver like this with my smoking stuff. The tip of the blade is almost a half inch wide and the shortness helps with pressure and control. This thing has never encountered a tin it couldn't open in about 50 years.

Yeah, I know, 50 years is a long time to get a tin open....
