HMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm NO,NO, and FUCK NO. Thank you...Balut, no thank you. I experienced that while in the Philippines. It's a boiled chicken or duck egg embryo eaten from the shell. I had to pass on that one, it was not very appetizing to me.
I have this sneaky feeling that she'll taste like...chicken ?My silkie is out back laying eggs. I'll report how she tastes in a few years.
So as some of you may recall, I am a bit of an adventurous eater. I try things that many would not. It has served me well over the years when getting to know some of the people I work with and has generally been fun. Haggis, yummy. Live bugs, no problem. Durian, just get it past your nose and you're in for a treat.
Tonight, I'm roasting up something I have been wanting to try for years...a black chicken.

We'll see how it turns out later. This is after I took off the head and feet to use for soup.
The place that had these also had some balut, salted egg and century eggs. I've already loved the salted egg yolks in my pasta but I'm a bit dubious on the balut. The wifey and I will be trying the century eggs in a couple weeks.
The silkworm pupae might be a bit much for this trip too but at least I'll get to say I've tried a few of these different foods.
Ok, maybe a silly question, but are the eggs any darker than eggs from other breeds? My silkie is out back laying eggs. I'll report how she tastes in a few years.
Not really, they are dark brown for me.Ok, maybe a silly question, but are the eggs any darker than eggs from other breeds?
