Tom was pointing out how there are new pipe makers getting into it pipe making to be Artists and express themselves, and he says he did it for the smoking, that it’s all about the smoking, and a social aspect...

Tom clearly has his own expression going on, but he makes it clear it is not the point, smoking is.

On the Social aspect, everyone clearly comes from different walks of life and backgrounds, but I like to think as Pipe Smokers we’re the, friendly social bunch...

Hey everyone likes Lone Time, but I will certainly enjoy company of a fellow pipe smoker talking story too, and sharing the moment.

I didn’t get any Salesman pitch in the video, playing any angles.

To me, Tom came across very humble, just a regular guy, that likes hanging out and smoking with others, is all I took away from the video.

I like the idea of pipe smoking being a social activity, and I think Forums somewhat fills that gap giving it a social dimension despite that being hard to find in person. Even with all the prohibitions on smoking today, there is also the conversational habits of most people, wanting to be snappy and dominant or competitive in conversation. Pipe talk needs to include long thoughtful pauses and openings for everyone to talk in turn. That has to be learned and probably requires some leadership.

I do enjoy a pipe in the presence of others, but I seldom add much to the conversation. I’m a man of few words and believe the pipe lends itself to my kind of people. Something about a pipe and contemplation that was meant to be.

I work at a school. I've repeatedly asked the principal at what seems like opportune times, if I could smoke. He's reminisced about the days when teachers used to smoke in the teachers lounge etc. He still always say no.
