If we look at the prices there is no difference between Tom Eltang, Lasse Skovgaard and Chris Asteriou.
They all are talented and expensive.
Price was never a category for me. I've just never been impressed with Tom's designs.

I think that if we are looking for a way to objectively measure who is the best, outside of "I like them or not", Tom has held the highest prices that actually sell to a world wide audience for longer than most. Actually, I can't think of anyone who has sold for his prices for as long as he has.
Also, he is more well know than most of these pipemakers that also sell for as much.

His name is synonymous with pipemaker.

Now, all of those other folks you guys mention may make a pretty pipe, and they may get their asking prices, but I've either never heard of them, or I've only ever heard you mention them.

Now, I could charge a million dollars for a pipe, but that doesn't make my pipes worth that much. What makes his pipes worth that much is that they sell without flinching.

Now, there are pipemakers that I like more than Eltangs. Hell, I would list twenty before I got to him. But, just going on fame and demand for a certain amount of time, he is at the top of his game.
