Just got my fishing permit/outdoors card in the mail. Now I just need a rod and reel and some worms.

I'm pleasantly surprised it came as soon as it did. I just wanted to make sure it got here before July when we go away.

Haven't fished in a long time. Will you be fishing off a boat, a pier, or in the surf? For a lot of different situations, I always like a bait casting reel, but some prefer a spin-caster. As a child, I caught a nice bass on my first outing, and the chef at the camp cooked it for my supper.

I hope you get addicted to it. Fishing is a creative way to do nothing much at all, while still doing something. And you never stop learning, improving and discovering things in nature. And your license fees go directly back into conserving and stocking fish and waterways and keeping access points open.

I always liked the story of my late wife and her dad, who owned an outboard 18-footer on a trailer. They went out off Atlantic Beach and hit a run of Spanish mackerel and pulled them in as soon as they could re-bait the hooks for an hour. They filled their freezer and gave away fish to all their kin. I wish I'd been along.

I was going to say welcome to the club, the club of people that have already gone through puberty. Glad that's not it. I was expecting a picture of a pubestache (you know that mustache 13 year olds grow and refuse to shave).

In most states, the money from permits stays with the dept of wildlife to help keep fish in rivers &a streams, wildlife management, etc. Please don't short change the management of the resources. They are having a tough time during this pandemic. There are a lot more people using the outdoors to stay sane.

It's the law my brother.. I don't have time to look it up, (Alabama is my state) but you and comrade @aquadoc can look it up for yourselves. It does have to be a cane, a bream buster, or a mexican fishing pole though..

You shouldn't deplore freedom the way ya do... Haha
