I like the look a lot. It has always been useful for me to find the stuff I want, however the badge system will cause a lot of people to post for sake of posting. When given 'bragging rights', you often get a bunch of crap reviews/suggestions that you don't necessarily want.

Overall, I think it is a much improved site.

When they sent out the email asking for suggestions a few months ago, I told them they should not allow one sentence reviews and that all reviews should be screened before being allowed to be posted. That would definitely cut down on some of the crap reviews but I doubt they would take the time to screen reviews. I am sure we will see a plethora of short reviews now that a badge system has been implemented.

I absolutely agree with you on both counts. I guess screening all reviews would be too much work and expensive.
IMO, any badge systems are fairly useless if they are based only on the number (and not quality) of the reviews a person has written.
I personally would love the option of "hiding" a reviewer if I find their reviews useless or aggravating.

I don't mind the "crap" reviews. I know that not everyone has the same taste buds, and I'm thankful for that. I use the site to see what is in a blend, because, frankly, the descriptions on most tins are crap. I also look to see if people are reacting to a casing or the cut, and I check out the room notes and strength of the blend.
Yeh, showing the number of reviews just encourages more posts, but it also lets me know who to avoid. If people are just smoking to review, then I will just discount the heavy poster's posts.
But, as someone looking for a way to journal my way through blends (if I had the time) I would love to use a site like this. I always flip over to the site when placing orders, but not on bulk. It would be ridiculous to bulk order something that I've never tried myself. But, for a 1 oz sample, I'll take the words of a few strangers before ordering. I like the updates.

Ditto cosmicfolklore. The new version is an improvement, but it will take some getting used to.

I like having all reviews on a single page so I can search the text using my browser's "find" command.

The global searching is improved also. Give it 3 stars.
I still prefer the philosophy behind LuxuryTobaccoReviews.com. Fewer reviews to read, but better quality, IMO.

cos, when I say crap reviews I am referring to those that start out, " I hate aromatic blends" and then continue on to totally disparage a blend that they don't even give a fair shot to as they are haters right off the bat. Or the ones that just click the number of stars and nothing else.
When I am looking at a blend I have never tried, I go the oldest reviews first and look for the old timers who are my favorite reviewers, which there are about 8-10 of.
jarit, that would be a great option being able to ignore a reviewer.

I really like the new look and the site does seem to be faster.
I think they took a hit in terms of SEO. In the past when I did a search in Google on nearly any tobacco, they'd be the top result. Now it seems about half the time they don't come up at all or they show up near the middle of the results.
I also noticed that their robots.txt file was not set up right. Hope they sort it out.
