Now I will slither away thinking about what I can do to make up for this rash act!

Everone please try to forgive my blunder and remember that it was unintentional on

my part as I never intentionally set out to do this horrendous act!

Apparently parsley has a fairly neutral flavor which when mixed with tobacco can bulk out a dwindling supply of the real thing.
Well, that's interesting. I've got a huge supply and tend to like it in every form I've tried so far. But smoking it? Prepare for the Pa/Per: a Parsley and Perique mixture.

Well I can agree that "alternate" is the word more appropriate! AND also agree the tobak

is NOW a controlled substance ( see I can adjust)

My ol Granpappy grew his own and when as a boy I would slip some out and try

to smoke it. WHEW, it would make one hunt an alternate when able to walk again!

Seriously if you dry the parsley out it really doesn't taste of much but if you add a small amount of tobacco it can stretch a meager supply a long way. I used to add it to my RYO tobacco when I was at boarding school 35+ years ago and it worked a treat. Its better to let it cure a bit so its not green when its dry but thats about it.

He said--"I have a faint recollection of pleasure derived from smoking dried lily-stems, before I was a man. I had commonly a supply of these. I have never smoked anything more noxious."
From Emerson's Eulogy of Thoreau. He was rather interested in Native lore, but whether the lily-stems were related to that or no, I cannot guess.

I have read that the American Indians used to smoke a number of items, ie. different type of dried leaves, willow bark; Rabbit tobacco etc.

Chasing, in my past readings about Native Americans cherry bark was frequently alluded to as a key ingredient in Kninknik.

Your article listed Canadian Bunchberry. Is that a tree that grown in the US?

This is a great mental image. I imagine boys sharing a meager supply of tobacco by adulterating it, and enjoying the rarity of the resulting smoke. You can never duplicate that context, which is what makes it so poignant.
