Tobacco still good?

Greetings fellow pipe smokers. First time poster. I have an old tin of Seattle Pipe Club's Mississippi river that I opened a good while ago. I never put it in a jar as I usually do. I found this old can with a good amount in it. I don't observe any mold on the slices. The scent is still there, altho probably more muted than a fresh can. My question is this: Is the tobacco still ok to smoke? It's dry, of course. Is it still potentially good? Or just buy a new can? What are your thoughts?

It's good, maybe not as original as you mentioned but I'm sure it's ok to smoke it.

You could try rehydrating it. Put the open tin and a small bowl with some distilled water in it next to each other in a large piece of Tupperware or even a large sealed ziplock bag. Check it in a day or two

it's not o.k. to smoke it. That's something to share. It should be totally good. Not the same but fine in every possible measure.

You may have a hard time finding that blend. Seattle Pipe Club blends were made by Sutliff, which is no more.

Try smoking a bit and see if you like it. It may need a light hydration. It's recommended to keep tobacco in a mason jar to prevent it from drying out too much.

If need to rehydrate, try the distilled water method.

It’s the same if older stock but the industry is undergoing changes

It'll be fine. The moisture created from burning will be enough hydration as it is smoked.

How dry is it? Reason for putting into a jar is to keep it from going way pass bone dry and going to "choke you if you smoke it" stage. You can try smoking it. Some actually enjoy their tobacco bone dry, if it VA sort.

It’s going to be a little muted compared to being freshly opened but for me it should be right where I’d want it.

Try rehydrating it with a boveda pack, but it might be a goner.

I purposely dry the ever living shit out of my tobacco before loading and smoking.

Occasionally ill have some fresh out of the tin, but am always disappointed. Always.

3 ps is suspect anyway.

Those tins only do so well for so long. The Peterson tins are worthless if you like the tobacco in them.

You're right. I opened up the tin to take a peek and it looks like there's rust on the inside?
