Greetings fellow pipe smokers. First time poster. I have an old tin of Seattle Pipe Club's Mississippi river that I opened a good while ago. I never put it in a jar as I usually do. I found this old can with a good amount in it. I don't observe any mold on the slices. The scent is still there, altho probably more muted than a fresh can. My question is this: Is the tobacco still ok to smoke? It's dry, of course. Is it still potentially good? Or just buy a new can? What are your thoughts?

Thank you.

What others said. Fire up a bowl or two - if and you still enjoy it, it’s a-okay!

If need to rehydrate, try the distilled water method.

Thank y'all for your replies. I'm going to jar give it a go tonight or tomorrow. If it's good, I'll throw it into a jar.
You may have a hard time finding that blend. Seattle Pipe Club blends were made by Sutliff, which is no more.
I found the date on it on the bottom. It's dated 12/10/2015. The art on it is different than what is available online. The tin is of a white background.

It’s the same if older stock but the industry is undergoing changes
If you like it - stock up

How dry is it? Reason for putting into a jar is to keep it from going way pass bone dry and going to "choke you if you smoke it" stage. You can try smoking it. Some actually enjoy their tobacco bone dry, if it VA sort.

You can rehydrate it by taking a clean paper towel and folding it into a small square, dampen it with distilled water and tossing it into the jar for a few days.

It's beyond bone dry lol. I wasn't sure if it's beyond recovery.
I also have Peterson 3 P's Perfect Plug in a tin that looks a little suspect. As well as a can of Potlatch.

3 ps is suspect anyway.

Those tins only do so well for so long. The Peterson tins are worthless if you like the tobacco in them.
