Prince Albert was the favorite of both my father and grandfather.

Both used it in a pipe and roll your own.
My wife likes the smell because it reminders her of her grandfather.
Some are too quick to discount the tried and true and end up missing out.

When I first started smoking a pipe (instead of cigarettes) I found that my ability to taste tobacco improved over time and not only because I was learning how to pack and burn slowly, but each new codger blend took time and experience in several different pipes and days and weeks of smoking to arrive to a point of understanding.
Initially, each new codger blend I'd try would be 'judged' in view of my previous 'success' and first results were usually not encouraging, however, with the awareness that it took me awhile to discern and adjust to the subtle differences, I was able to enjoy them all and in the process, I think, learned something about my palate.

I have noticed that when i dry out my English blends a bit, it is better and cooler for me, but the aromatics i get are more moist and i pack them in my pipe just like that, and i find i get way more flavor from the tobaccos.
