Tobacco Leaves by John Bain (1903)

Hey folks, just picked up a first edition (1903) of John Bain's "Tobacco Leaves" for a whopping $12. Granted my copy is a little battered, but I'm pleased. There's a fancier one (with its own cigar box!) selling now on ebay for $199.

Check out the padded suede cover, the ragged edges, the artwork, the inscription, and the great dedication.

[Thanks to Gene Umberger and his wonderful recent article in TPC about pipe-book inscriptions for making me aware of Bain. "Tobacco in Song and Story" (1896) is also great if you can find it. My son finds the smoking poems hilarious.]
