I’ve seen this a few places, people will put their tobacco in a blender, the chop whirling chop chop kind, is there any benefit to this? It seems that you would loose whatever “changes” the tobacco goes through as you smoke a bowl.

i haven’t tried it and don’t have plans to just curious if anyone here does it, i suppose loading a pipe might be easier, but would it burn cooler or anything? I see more cons than pros to this.

I haven't tried this as I find it easy enough to to tear long strands up by hand.
But Steve Fallon (PipeStud) mentions he does this frequently with shag or ribbon cuts.

I tend to prefer coarser cuts: I find that loading and smoking is usually a little easier.

That said, with blends like Penzance, Quiet Nights, Chelsea Morning, I like to rub them out to a uniformed crumble and gravity fill the pipe that way.

Great results both ways, some minor differences in the nuances of the taste but doesn't necessarily improve or diminish it.

If you're curious about it, I would just get a cheap "spice grinder" (aka: weed grinder) and give it a try yourself.

I've never tried using a blender but I do like the idea of using a coffee grinder. In fact I just bought two tins of GLP Sparkplug that are terribly loose plugs. The tin date is Oct 2021 and I think C&D has press issues with making their plugs. The stuff will just fall apart in my hands and I'd like to chop this stuff up.

BTW, I'm not the first guy to experience problems with loose C&D plug issues. And yes I know I could contact Jeremy and probably get replacements but I'd rather just handle it myself and chop the stuff up.

I actually have an old been grinder i don’t use, just would have to find it after the last move, might try it for the pirate kake, sounds like that’s where a benefit would be.

Cut off flakes from the plug, toss em in and give them a few pulses.
I do this with coins like MB Roll Twist or Three Nuns, for just a few pipe-fulls and then lay them out and let them dry a bit before loading them up.
You have to be careful though, any more than a few pulses and it turns them to the consistency of cigarette tobacco.

I put some Cotton Bill Twist in a coffee grinder and it made a sort of tobacco dust.

I thought I was impervious to nicotine, but I was mistaken.

Acute nicotine poisoning is not, as enjoyable as it might seem to be in the abstract.

I didn’t know if I’d pass out or puke, but after an hour or so I could ambulate again.:)
