Mmjk, unless you know the OP trough the forums then I think your comment may be taken as being rude. That does not mean it was intended to be. I certainly do not think I am better than you or anyone else here. I have no crew on this forum, although I post a lot I am a relative newcomer. If Woodroads and someone who he regularly exchanges tongue in cheeks barbs with are doing so, then no one is going to say anything about some banter among forum buddies. If I thought he was being rude to someone, then I would say so. I personally do not seek to be rude here but as I pointed out, when it's in print it can be hard to tell how someone meant something. Also in nonsensical threads, things tend to get nonsensical. If the OP knows you through the forum or your statement was meant to be comical, then I apologize. Written on the internet, one cannot see someones face or smile and cannot hear the tone of voice or inflection. I would hate for new posters to be run off by their perception of the help they receive. To be direct, I don't think it's okay for any of us to be outright rude but personalities and the way people intend to be taken varies widely. Kevin asked us to mind our manners and I have been trying my best to do so. Things are supposed to be friendly around here.

mmjk, I would ask that you just restate your intent. It came across as rude to me as well. It sure seems that you didnt want it to come across that way and no reason to leave over a misunderstanding on both of our parts. Lots of good folks here regardless of post counts.

I think the comment was rude as well intended or not.. There are no bad or useless questions here from any members in my opinion. I would have been offended by being ask ( do you even smoke a pipe? ). I think we just need too think before we write. Good luck paranoidpiper.

I smoke all my usual blends in my cobs with much enjoyment. I do have some of the new MM Country Gentleman and Missouri Pride on the way which I'm looking forward to trying. :puffy:

I don't think cobs do less well with specific blends because they're cobs. I like some tobaccos in big, deep bowls, and they do fine in big deep cobs as well as briars.

I have all the Missouri Meerschaum blends. They are all great pouch tobaccos. They all deserve more notice. They are all great cob tobaccos. I don't believe there is any such thing as a cob tobacco per se. Members should feel free to ask questions in my opinion.

While I definitely like the idea that blends have been made specifically cobs, it's been my experience that any blend I like in briars I also like in cobs

I agree with this whole statement. The Missouri Meerschaum blends are great, I find that some tobacco's go with my cobs a little better then others. And I agree a member should be free to ask questions, that includes in this case the OP and the 'Anonymous' poster, but it looks like one wasn't allowed to ask.
Edit: Can't figure out how to use the reply with quote option.

Absolutely agree with my colleagues, here. The Missouri Meerschaum blends are nice - and all very different. I have both an American Patriot and a Great Dane pouch open at the moment.

So, to summarize: OTC "codger" Burleys, MM Cob specifics, Burley forward blends.

SWR is easy to use because of its cube cut. It seems to fall in on itself a bit better making tamping less of a necessity. All the burley blends seem to take time to adjust to, and first impressions should be disregarded.

One or two bowls will not do justice.

Yea, the codger blends do very well in a cob. As for the blends that Russ created for the cob, good stuff. Last weekend there was a sale for $29.99 you got one of each of the Missouri Meerschaum tobaccos and 3 cobs. Got mine found the Pipes were Mark Twain, Huck Finn and a Tom Sawyer. Good stuff.
