Trying to avoid politics to the best of my ability here, but the relationship between insureds and insurers has really changed for the positive. What we have now mandated is that everybody in our (USA) society gets to partake in the risk sharing, even with pre-existing conditions. Before the insurance companies basically had the discretion to keep the pool as clean as possible, so to speak, to mitigate risk. No more. This, I see as a benefit. Those who complain about premiums are usually insurance loss leaders in this regard, anyway, and don't even really realize it.
