My brushing routine:

Sonicare. Make sure to brush your tongue, a frequently overlooked step.

floss (nobody likes doing it, but nothing really replaces it.)

interproximal brush

Waterpik. After a thorough brushing and flossing you'd be shocked at the debris you see in your sink. The OralBreeze would work as well. The only difference is that you can mix Listerine in the waterpik.

Mouthwash of your choice.

I've been a pipe smoker since 1959 and my dentist tells me that there's absolutely no evidence of it, neither lesions, staining, etc.

20 minutes daily of intensive oral care really pays off. And SWMBO doesn't complain. And if you don't have 20 minutes a day to spend on your oral health, well, ... pipe smoking will be the least of your problems.

I use biotene between bowls, use hydrogen peroxide out of the bottle, oral b toothbrush, and a water pik. That system even worked for cigars which can stink worse than a a pipe.

I think this was my first post when I came here. This stuff really works but, don't let it stay on your teeth, it is a whitener and nibbles a little at the enamel.

Brushing your teeth twice and rinsing your mouth out with mouthwash. I agree with some of the others about the pocket Listerine strips. Good luck and happy smoking.

In addition to pretty much all described above (except for the water-pick type thingy; I discovered how efficient that is when it blew the cap right off my tooth and down the drain) I also use those little pocket breath-fresheners (current favourite: "Sweet Breath Cinnamon Drops'). It doesn't hurt to let a little get down your throat; smoke and other odours are not limited to the mouth. And it tastes good!

Ardbeg Scotch. If you just drink it all the time, she won't be able to tell the difference between it and tobacco breath.
The best solution is probably to buy her a pipe and introduce her to pipe smoking.

pretty much any hard alcohol does the trick for me. I sometimes hose my beard down with a vinegar/water mixture... but my wife doesn't seem to mind too much... it slowly grew on her, and now she kind of thinks it manly.

WOW, Islay bomb much? This will work wonders right here! Shame I cannot drink anymore...

Rhinos are in short supply here in the CDN Rockies, but we have elk for days. Wonder if they'll work as well for disguising tobacco breath. Less downside too if they're only a little dead and object to the ass eating.
