Hello, Wayne. A belated welcome to the forum.

Well I have tried some of the suggestions, and I have discovered two gems so far:
Mac Baren - Old Dark FiredCornell & Diehl - PegasusBoth have a nice nicotine strength and taste great.

I love those two blends. When my brain returns, I'll try to recommend a few other blends along those lines.

Many of the blends danimalia mentioned are worth exploring.

I usually only pack about 1/4 of a bowl.

If you are new to the pipe, try filling the pipe a bit more. I find often that the blend gets much better the further down the bowl you go. If you pack a short bowl, you may just be missing the best part.

Jay, funny that you mention that as I just realized in the last few days that it definitely adds to flavor! I'll be packing more from now on. It is in my nature to be cheap, I'll have to make exceptions.
