So I mean to try my hand at making manly fragrance, by infusing tobacco into oils.

Sorry, my brain somehow ignored this part when I replied. I thought you were just looking for a ready to go cologne.

Most perfumers use tobacco absolutes in their formulas, however, I have yet to find one that smells true to the real thing or even close. All of the ones I have experimented with are either too barnyard, too molasses, or too leather. Some are downright fecal. But people seems to love them, and I'm also guessing that those people are not pipe smokers! I stopped trying to find a good tobacco absolute because they get very expensive. Granted, I'm not a perfumer, and it is a true art that requires decades of experience to master.

If you can come up with something that is actually true to pipe tobacco, I will be your first customer! Otherwise, Tom Ford is my guy.

Supposedly you can infuse tobacco smell into oil by putting them in a sealed container together...
So I've got about a knuckle worth of War Horse in a little Tupperware now with a half-filled shot glass of canola oil. If it actually works, I'll let you know.

It uses a mixture of gas oil and truck grease, mixed with pine scent, that pine that is placed in the cabs of the trucks. Spread it behind the ears. Along with that cheap cologne sold at roadside gas stations. Don't wear deodorant for a month, and don't shower for a week or two. Don't brush your teeth either, drink lots of bourbon. Don't cut your toenails either, today's girls like them manly. Stick synthetic hair on your chest and ass too.jack-nicholson-bored.gif

My buddy's lady friend believes that I should start wearing cologne.

Now, I am a cheapskate, and am already buying pipe tobacco. Which smells good.
So I mean to try my hand at making manly fragrance, by infusing tobacco into oils.

Any reccs for a fine, manly tobacco aroma to woo the ladies?
I'm currently thinking of a certain infamous, oft-memed battle equine, personally.
Being a tobacco blender means that I smell like tobacco most of the time, and so finding scents that work with that circumstantial bouquet is something I have thought a bit about. Naturally, cologne fragrances that carry a note of oud, leather, smoke, cedar and tobacco are kind of where I gravitated, and I have tried a lot. In my experience Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Carolina Herrera for Men are both very nice tobacco based scents where the tobacco aroma is prominently featured. TF TV is more expensive, but lasts longer, has more depth and develops throughout the day. CH f M is fairly affordable and is a classic in my opinion, but it does waft off a little more quickly, and has a firm, bright, alcohol note at the beginning, but the heart of the scent, a blend of tobacco leaf, tobacco flower, woods and leather, quickly come to the fore. Scent is one thing, but how a particular scent smells when worn by the individual is what is really important. While colognes can be expensive, sites like Fragrance.net Microperfumes.com and Scentbird offer more affordable travel spray versions of lots of high quality brands and they will generally last more than a month with daily use. This provides not only affordability, but also variety and exploration, without breaking the bank. My $0.04.

Been on line shopping today, thanks to this thread I think. I picked up a few different colognes since I currently don't have any. It's usually just the day to day shower, brushing teeth, aftershave, and deodorant for me. I'm gonna I give this Coffee Man a try and I picked up some Carolina Herrera for Men also, along with a couple of others. Should get here this Thursday. My tobacco storage closet has all my coats and shirts smelling like Billy Budd, Engine 99, Mountain Camp, and Bowlegged Bear (the cereal containers aren't the best seal, but that's ok. I've invested in better since and I like my closet smelling like tobacco), from time to time I'll stick my head in and take a big whiff. Aromatherapy. Screenshot_20230626-085408~2.png

You know how many Man Cards are going to pulled from the permanent file today?
By all means, take mine. If having a man card means my sense of masculinity is tied to smelling like a muskrat's cunt all day, then count me out.

To the OP:

Ladies, like most human beings, prefer if the people they spend time with smell pleasant. If you want someone to sleep with you especially, then smelling good helps your odds considerably. I'm not saying you have to be some dainty 18th century Parisian dandy getting ready to make his mark at the local salon. But my dude, your friends, and I say this with love and respect, are low-key telling you that you stink. The hookup with their mutual friend is incidental at best. No one goes to someone and is like, "Hey, I'm pretty sure we can get you laid, but we just need the right cologne!" Naw, they are letting you down gently. Let's see what can be done.

I've seen people take even good fragrances and just ruin it by dousing themselves in it, or choosing a scent not well-suited to them, etc. This brief link, should you be interested, will help you immensely. For what you were asking, I'd advise getting a fragrance near where the Orientals and Woody notes begin to merge. Something with sandalwood, for instance, is classic, masculine, and pairs well with tobacco. It is also a commonly found scent, and it isn't hard to find good fragrances at decent prices. A lot of discount stores, like TJ Maxx for example, will have several designer fragrances available at low prices. I advise being willing to shop around and finding a fragrance you personally like and enjoy. Nothing is worse dropping money on a fragrance that you don't like and just gives you a headache.

I notice most tobacco colognes are scents for mature men and for cooler weather. So if you’re 20 and want a summer scent there is virtually nothing to pick from. Red Tobacco is amazing though. Fumerie Turque by Serge Lutens uses Latakia so I own that too. But as a cheapskate you’re entering dark territory my friend…cologne & dating, and dating a woman who is ”into fragrance”. Ouch.
