Most pipes available in my neck of the woods (South Africa) are designed for 9 MM filters. I however, do not use filters at all. They choke the draw in my personal experience. It's like drinking non-alcoholic beer, almost like the real deal.
I also, however believe in personal choice. Try both with and without filter. The adaptors keep the bitter taste of the oil though, that’s why I threw mine away.
