Why are some thread titles in boldface type?

Where are the rules regarding membership progression?

I don't know about the progression but bold thread titles are ones with unread or new posts.

I believe titles that are bold face are titles you haven't commented on or responded to. I've noticed I can read a whole thread that is bold face and if I don't "like" or comment it stays bold.

Oops...I was wrong. I tested my theory on not commenting. I read some bold threads without commenting and they are no longer bold.

All they ask for is 100 good posts. No "Yep", "Uh-huh", or other simple count boosters. Posts that actually engage conversation.

I was also wondering whether there's a minimum time on forums requirement in addition to the 100-post-mark, considering that, yes, post-padding can become a problem.
