I've actually been remonstrated by coworkers to stop "spoiling" our customers. It's amazing to me that management sometimes tolerates a culture of laziness.
We are having an increasingly difficult time finding new technicians who don't arrive with a list of demands at their interview. "I have to have every Friday off and can only work from 10:00 am to 6PM...I need a month off in December....." Hospital work doesn't accommodate that sort of scheduling.
I'm not sure what cultural shift started this, but it certainly wasn't around when I was in the job market 35 years ago.
