Inspired by the interview with Mark Tinsky, I contacted him about carving a new hunk of briar for me. He sounded like such an interesting man with an incredibly storied past! I (ashamedly) was not familiar with his work before your show and further perusing of his website. The pipes I saw there were absolutely beautiful and I knew I had to have one. After several e-mail conversations and pictures of my favorite pipes, shape wise, he surprised me the next morning with a picture of a completed pipe! One day? Are you kidding me? We decided an Amber stem would really make it sing, so the next morning a had a picture of the final edition. I am now camping out under the mailbox waiting for my (his) masterpiece to arrive! Photos to come next week. Thank you Brian and Kevin for continuing to expand our knowledge and introduce us to these wonderful artisans!

Mark is a great craftsman, and fine pipes he makes. Look up the history of the American Smoking Pipes Company (ASPC), it really is a good story, unfortunately we loose Curt Rollar in the end

Pagan - Yeah, I learned a lot from the interview on the radio show. What a life! I would like to find a pipe made by Curt someday as well. New old stock is probably too much to ask. I loved the story Mark told about his "charity case" Rad Davis! What a hoot!

Cosmic - If it smokes as good as it looks, I will be happy indeed! Here is the pipe right after being made. I will post more, all cleaned up, after I get it.

She's a beaut. I have to stop looking at all these commissions though because then I'll want one.

Allow me to tempt you once more, my friend. This is only my 2nd commissioned pipe. The first, a Jesse Jones sandblasted 1/8 bent Brandy, was worth every penny! I'm sure I'll feel the same about this one. I have decided that if I am going to spend money on a pipe, I want it to be the EXACT pipe I want as far as shape, size, adornments, stem shape, color, and material, and engineering. This way I get everything I want the way I want it!

Mark is amazing. Both his skill, precision, and speed is unspeakable. Not surprised he made your commission within a day. I absolutely love my Tinsky author pipes he made for me.
Did I also mention that he was very accommodating with my requests and an absolute pleasure to work with. Congrats on your pipe and enjoy it.
