C&D tins are not vacuum sealed on purpose to allow some air to remain in the sealed tin to allow aging. Keep your sealed tins "as is" until you open them. Once opened, if you do not plan to smoke it often, then put the tobacco in a mason jar. That is never a mistake. Just screw the lid on and let it be. It will be fine.

All my bulk aros have been jarred soon after purchased. I haven't really noticed much difference after a year of jarred aros. With tins that I store, i normally vacuume wrap and seal them with a food grade vacuum sealer, and label the date, and where it's from if I have a special tin (like some Petersons I bought in Dublin).
I've had an open tin of Macbaren Vanilla cream flake for over a year and it's still moist, I'm actually smoking a bowl of it now, and I still had to dry it out.
Same with a tin of MacB 7 Seas, been open 10months and still moist as the first day I opened.
