I'd love to learn to play pedal steel guitar, is that difficult? I have had Dobro in the past, and even that one seemed to be far from being 'easy digging'

Well, I practice pipe organ, piano, harpsichord, as well as classical singing. And although practice sessions are a little different when it's also my job (haven't had a non-music related job in over 20 years), I still have sessions where I get to experience the joy of discovery and satisfaction at becoming better at something I love. I'm happy to be among the professional musicians who are still "amateurs", that is to say, still in love with what we do.

I picked back up the guitar a few years ago. Its kind of like riding a bike. Only difference is now i have arthritis and the hands dont work as well as they should

Beyond playing myself on the old 'skin accordion' when I was younger I have no musical skills whatsoever. I tried the violin when I was seven/eight and it sounded like I was torturing the neighborhood cat. The piano was an equal bust much to my Mothers disappointment. The harmonica was like wise a total failure from my perspective and I won't even discuss the Recorder that I converted into a pea shooter when I was at school. These various travails have resulted in my general deduction that music and Mr. Condor were not a match under any circumstances. Anyone that can master playing any form of musical instrument has my total respect and admiration.

Before the Coronavirus I was learning to play baritone / euphonium with Ireland Colliery Brass Band here in Chesterfield.

About a year ago I picked up a cheap dreadnought. Been trying to learn by watching YouTube videos when I have time, which is rarely. I do enjoy it though. I wish my wife could say the same. I pretty much just run her from one room to the other.

12 years of classical training at the piano, and I played cello as well. Used to make a few bucks playing ragtime in pizza joints.

Interesting. After seeing the famous movie called "The Sting" I went out and bought an old upright piano, made in 1923. You see, I was going to play Classic Ragtime within a year. Just like the pianist in the movie. That never happened. But...yada, yada, yada.....I became a piano technician, and tuned and repaired pianos for at least 35 yrs. Who knew.

Guitar, acoustic and electric, for over 40 years. Always something new to learn.

Beginning in January I decided to quit playing prog, hard and classic rock and begin studying jazz seriously and practicing several hours a day again. I wish I’d done it long ago, it’s made me a much better player already. The way those old jazz players played so cleanly and expressively is humbling.

I went for years without practicing my instruments (most things you don't have to blow into, but mainly drum kit) by myself because I was always too busy with rehearsals. With rehearsals off and venues closed, quarantine has been great for my chops. E.g. I hadn't practiced my rudiments in decades, and now I'm just slaughtering some flamacues and double paradiddles. Can't wait to get back to playing with people, though.

Playing around with some “cleaner” set-ups during COVID. 30+ years of dragging kits around and I still hate load-in / load-out. Fortunately, during the days of kits the size of jungle gyms, the help was under contract But those days were a long, long time ago...
