Car warranties!! I get a call every week to "not let my coverage lapse"..... on a car I haven't had for 3 years! Pressing 2 to get off the call list does nothing but encourage more pestilence.

I get a call from "Discover Card" nearly twice a day... I've never had one.
I get all kinds of weird calls. My personal info has been compromised on several occasions from various sources. It's a very unfortunate circumstance of the times.

My phone only rings if the caller is in my contacts. All others automatically go straight to message. If it's a spam message, I block the number so it just disconnects next time. Most spammers don't leave a message. Saves alot of hassle. Just have to remember to keep contacts current. Earn extra curmudgeon points this way!

I’m glad my 86 year dad didn’t get this call, I’m having a hard enough time getting his Us, People, Road and Track, and Country Living subscriptions cancelled.
If the magazine companies give you grief, you can file a consumer complaint with your state attorney general and they will take care of it for you. Maybe even audit or fine them if it's a widespread practice, which will help protect others.

I started getting scam calls that the power company is disconnecting my service and don't get me started on how many warrants the IRS and SS Administration have on me. Atleast my car is fully covered now.

Same. But the "diligent" crooks leave a VM often enough.

Whenever someone decides to promote an idea as a get rich scheme, the only ones getting rich are the ones selling the classes or making the TV shows. If you could actually get rich, they'd just keep their mouths shut and just get rich.
Exactly, nobody promotes a really successful business. If it's successful they keep it to themselves. A friend was constantly convinced that buying a house he had rented for a year in a gated community was a great deal. I had to tell him that, initially, the owner had contacted him to offer it for rent and then he was constantly looking for him to offer it for sale. If the property was so good it should have potential buyers and that obviously so many offers to him meant the opposite.

Any numbers not in address book are ignored - looked up and then summarily blocked. We had voice mail turned off by the network. If you can’t get hold of me - call back!
Eliminating VMs from friends and family would defeat a good part of the purpose of the phone for me.

Ones from spammers I can delete without listening to. Small price to pay!

Given the amount of human suffering in the world, complaining about this pales in comparison.
Ripping off the aged in the name of "Providing piece of mind (warranties)", through theft of life savings certainly contributes to the suffering of a vulnerable human being. It reduces their ability to pay for meds, food, a roof over their head and so forth. What more do you want before you decry such behavior?

I'd take appropriate action. Or, are you referring to some third worlder? I might donate to an appropriate and trusted non-profit. But, looking after a problem, such as a neighbor being scammed? Again I'd take appropriate measures. I tend to respond to problems I can solve/impact in a positive manner. Third world stuff? Not that much of a concern as I can't immediately affect a solution. Are they heart wrenching? The TV ads make them appear so.
