When it has happened, my solution had been to embrace the scent and dedicate them to aromatic or Lakeland tobaccos.

If you consider Lakeland, Latakia, Cherry or other overly perfumed goopy aromatics you've pretty well covered the lion's share of the well smoked pipes out there.
Otherwise buying new might be the best option
