I wish you all the best in your venture (and am genuinely curious to see your product). Print is a challenging prospect this day and age. My friend John and I work on Weird Tales Magazine (its first issue came out in March 1923 in the days of pulp magazines). I became its Design Director about thirteen years ago. Our current iteration is full colour, perfect bound, with minimal advertising—each issue retails at $20.00 US; it’s not cheap, but we have international readers that spend $40.00 US on shipping alone to get a single issue—I mention this to tell you that there are passionate people out there willing to spend money if you provide something that they are looking for in their lives. Other problems with electronic "books" are when the company stops supporting the reading device they sold you, all your purchases are now unavailable unless you now buy their new device. Or they can stop supporting the software they once provided so that you can also read their books on your computer screen.

As long as it's working, I can transfer data from my computer to my Kindle via cable without any problem. Most of the time, I have it in airplane mode.
My Kindle is always in airplane mode. I transfer all my books to the device via Calibre. I dont think I've ever bought a book from Amazon.
This is an interesting thread for me. Lately, much of my fun reading has been of pulp magazines, particularly Astounding Stories but others as well. One of the things I have learned is how interactive that medium was- the Readers' Corner section of Astounding allowed fan feedback and interaction. Way back in 1930.
I've been reading that material on my tablet.
As for "Timber...", I'm happy to see that someone is doing it, and hope it's successful. I'm not likely to purchase it unless I see a hard copy in a store, though, and definitely not for more than I'd pay for an issue of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

I have not received my first issue yet in the mail, but I saw this post on Instagram from a well-followed pipe smoker in Upstate New York who just received his and called it “high quality.” I can’t wait.

The publisher is doing this becuase he wants to, not to make a fortune.
If makeing a boat load of cash were the objective it would be in a lot of trouble.
However, you never know. I literally started my business Just becuase I wanted to make sax mouthpieces and I figured it would be a good tax write off.
I had no intention of making a living with it.
Years later I retired early from my normal work and it has supported me since.
Lots of things fail but some succeed my accident (and a lot of hard work).

@pappymac Sorry for the delay in getting back to you here. To answer your questions: Yes, there are copies of the first issue available on the website. Releases are going to be done quarterly, so I'm in process right now of the September issue.
Trying to have better planning so that releases will be sent out in the beginning of the month, rather than the end like they were for this first go around.
Would be more than happy to answer any additional questions.
