Al, your horror story serves as a reminder of just a few of the many reasons why I haven't traveled by air for over a decade and never will again in this lifetime.

When we first adopted the dog, he got scared at some of the weirdest things. As a puppy he was hit by a car, and for the first month or two that we had him, I couldn't get him to ride anywhere to save his life. Now I can't keep him out of the car. Weirdly enough, though, whenever it starts storming outside, he perks his head up to the door, then lays down on the floor and falls asleep. Storms don't bother him all that much. Fireworks are a different story however, so I guess I got lucky. Best of health and luck to all of you affected by the weather.

So many tangents!
Cute story OP! I have a Chihuahua/terrier mix who is a lot like that. He hates weather like that.
The heavy barrage of mortar fireworks around the 4th shake up all my dogs, even the usually unflappable mastiff.
Al, sorry about the flight debacle! That is just rough.
I, personally, love inclement weather. I say that from the comfort of my PNW home where bad weather things very seldom happen, but we are at risk for a volcano or a seismic event.
