I have one of the pipe style Thunderbird inserts, the one with the hood and a hole in one side where the flame licks out. The flame does NOT stay lit very well in that one, no matter how I adjust it. I have another Thunderbird insert that is just a more traditional looking Zippo head on it where the flame comes out the top. That one works fine.

I bought one & tossed it after a couple days. Real Zippo stuff is what it is, works all the time.

Funny thing is, mine stopped being reliable after about a week. I now use a zippo pipe insert in the T-Bird case because I like the thicker metal of their case vs. my zipp.

I bought one and it erupted in a large enough flame that removed some of my right eyebrow and lashes and a bit more hair off my hand. People should buy one of these...if they're dumb enough. There's another one called Z Plus that is much better than this piece of poor designed and executed crapola.

Got a Z plus from the Country Squire. Jon David said they were great ! So far no problems.

GOOD NEWS FELLAS!!!! I have found a way to make your thunderbirds light everytime. If your thunderbird isnt lighting, replace the flint with the flint from a bic lighter!! For some reason none of my zippo flints will make this insert light, but I took the flint out of my bic lighter, threw it in my thumderbird, and now it lights everytime!!!!

As just an occasional smoker my Thunderbird has yet to fail me after a couple of months.
