I recently got Three Nuns and am really enjoying it. Would love a list of recommendations of similar blends.
I have a stash of Three Nuns Green that I really enjoy. I haven't found anything exactly like it, but there are a few that are similar (to me). Newminster 403 Superior Round Slices is a most always in stock and is sold in bulk. It definitely needs time in the cellar as I find it is pretty harsh when fresh. Mac Baren's Dark Twist Roll Cake is another great option, but I think it is only sold in 100g tins or 1lb bags. I enjoy it, and again, it benifits from some age. If you're into C&D, they have Three Friars, which is supposed to be their take on the original Three Nuns. Can't confirm, but I will likely pick up a tin at some point. Savinelli Doblone d'Oro may be the answer to your question. It may even be better. I have a half dozen 100g tins of it based on numerous recommendations, but I am just realizing while typing that I have never cracked any. I have been working on my open jars of HH Bold Kentucky and Old Dark Fired and trying to get some years on more of my tins, but maybe I should just pop one. For science, of course. ??I recently got Three Nuns and am really enjoying it. Would love a list of recommendations of similar blends.

Good to know! My tins are from 2019. Booo!Jim and I both evangelized Doblone d’Oro as the closest thing available on the market to the Va/Per Three Nuns, but no longer, due to the subbing out of Perique with dark fired. If you come across any from 2017 and earlier, grab it.
I was going to offer up the same thing. Doblo d'Oro. Although, I prefer Three Nuns.
I’m with you. I think it’s like @sablebrush pointed out, it was awesome in the past but current production is a crap shoot. The original was a balance between the tobaccos but the new stuff can be rancid at times.frankly I am of the opinion if it's a coin it's probably awesome. I don't know why but every single coin I've smoked has been really good. My least favorite is Doblone because every once in a while something nasty comes out of it. Or at least the tins I've gotten. Though when it's not being nasty it's great. Like a tar that's been cooked in more tar and then fried in tar flavored butter. Never had any other blend do it. Maybe got some bum batches. But seriously my suggestion is just get more coins. They're not all the same but.....
Good to know! It's def less expensive and always in stock. Win, win.I prefer Newminster 403.
And made by Mac Baren like Doblone d'Oro.?Good to know! It's def less expensive and always in stock. Win, win.
I went camping with Brasky … I’m in the back of a pickup with Bill Brasky and a live deer. Well, Brasky, he grabs the deer by the antlers, looks at it and says, ‘I’m Bill Brasky! Say it!’ Then he squeezes the deer in such a way that a sound comes out of its mouth — “Billbrasky!” It wasn’t exactly it, but it was pretty good for a deer.”I once had an internet buddy named Tom Abrahamsson who smoked 3 Nuns in his beloved Pete's. He lived in Canada and there is an oft told story about him and his devotion to 3 Nuns. When he'd visit the USA and the border folks would ask him about declaring anything he would say "all I have is the 3 Nuns in the trunk". :D. Tom was a far out super cool son of a buck.
This is precisely why it is recommended to have a cellar or at least a small accumulation of your favorite blends.I like Three Nuns Green I have a few tins stashed, good job because its now discontinued.I only learnt that today.
