You guys all need to listen to Barbra Streisand. I am not a fan of her music per se. I never listen to her as a matter of fact, but I know the greatest singer when I hear it. I was a musician and when I hear voices from woman or even male singers I know who is great and I know when I hear the best voice ever. Give her a shot guys, you can be like me and never listen to her again, but you have to hear a voice that is above everyone else.

I love Stevie Nicks because of the songs she sings. Her voice is weak. Amy Winehouse is much better. Nora Jones is better, but Stevie's songs are on a different level. Donna Summers voice is right up there. She grew up not far from where I did.

My mom was a hell of a singer, soprano, though she was too tremulously shy to solo even in the church choir, but could really belt it out around home. "Now the day is over/ Night is coming nigh/ Shadows of the evening/ Fall across the sky." So she's one of my favorites too. Although my late wife didn't sing, I'd occasionally catch her doing a pretty good song in an elfin voice very different from her rich alto speaking voice, ideal for her teaching role. My wife now sings enthusiastically at every opportunity and isn't too good to let me chime in. We're not prime time, but full throttle. She was a church pianist as a young adult. So there're three of my favorite female vocalists. No agents, no ASCAP, no venues, no problem.
